O Taste and See That the Lord Is Good — Yellow Goodness

I am often asked, “What is Nutrition Science?” or “What exactly have you studied in this field?” To simply put it: this is a field that explores how the body processes and uses nutrients present in food for growth & metabolism, health, diseases and the body’s physiological needs while understanding the impact of diet on individuals and communities.

In many ways, nutrition itself functions as a bridge—connecting what we consume to how we live, function, and thrive.

Scripture says, “O taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8). This verse is active and invitational. It calls us to cross from knowing about God into experiencing Him. Jesus Himself is that crossing point—the Bridge between heaven and earth, divinity and humanity, knowledge and life.

The goodness of God is often described in terms of love, compassion, and favor, but His goodness is also revealed in His sovereignty, His protection, and His desire to draw us near. Jesus is the ultimate expression of that goodness—God reaching toward us.

In nutrition science, one area of focus is bioavailability—how much of a nutrient is absorbed and used by the body. A food may be rich in nutrients, but if the body cannot absorb it, its benefits remain unrealized.

Spiritually, Jesus is our bioavailability. He is the One through whom the life of God becomes accessible, receivable, and livable.

Here’s Helpful Cooking Tip 🤓: Add a little lemon juice🍋 to your salad, 🥗and or meat 🥩preparations

The Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) enhance the body’s ability to absorb as much Iron as possible from your diet.

Consider Turmeric: Theo’s Feast talks about a decadent dessert Yellow using turmeric as one of its ingredients.

Turmeric is a plant from the ginger family, grown primarily in Southeast Asia and India. Its has been used for centuries in cooking, healing, and cosmetic practices. Curcumin, the compound responsible for turmeric’s vibrant yellow color, makes up about 2–8% of most preparations and carries powerful properties.

Turmeric is known for its:

  • Anti-inflammatory effects (relevant to obesity and chronic inflammation)

  • Antioxidant properties (supportive of heart health)

  • Anti-tumor potential

  • Antifungal and antibacterial activity

Yet turmeric’s goodness is not realized by observation alone. It must be used, combined, and consumed. Only then does it cross the bridge from potential to benefit.

Practical Aspect

How much? When preparing a curry or if are preparing a marinade, adding about ½ teaspoon allows its flavor and properties to be released.

In the same way, we can study God endlessly—analyze Scripture, debate doctrine, and gather information—but without Jesus, that knowledge does not cross into life. Even demons know about God, yet it profits them nothing.

Jesus said, “I am the way”—the bridge. Through Him, we move from information to transformation, from separation to communion, from knowing about God to truly knowing Him.

A child crosses a bridge without hesitation—trusting, dependent, and unburdened. This is why Jesus said we must become like children. Faith does not build the bridge; Jesus already has. Faith simply steps onto it.

When we taste, we cross. When we receive, we live. And when we walk across the Bridge— we see that the Lord is good.

Following Him does not mean that there won’t be trials and difficulties. Trials will come, and valleys will deepen. Yet beyond these passing struggles—and beyond even the blessings of this world, there is a greater reward in heaven. I invite you to choose Jesus everyday, in the quiet, in the struggle, in the unseen moments and experience His faithfulness.
