Eating Alpha S'more Faith Bites

Alpha Episode 4, How Can I Have Faith?

“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” - Matthew 17:20 NLT

And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

- Luke 17-6

Introduction

I had many preconceived ideas of “faith” prior to making the decision to follow Jesus. Really anything to do with the Christian faith and the idea of “religion” pushed me way out of my comfort zone. However I was spiritually hungry and found that nothing really satisfied this hunger.

Eventually my spiritual hunger pushed me out of my comfort zone, metaphorically, spiritually and literally. This simple collection of S’Mores and Hors d’oeuvres are purposefully designed to push you out of your comfort zone. There is nothing typical about the flavours. Some might sound good to you, some combinations might even be repulsive. Don’t choose the one that is appealing, take a step of faith and eat the one that is your least favourite as the reward will be very satisfying.

Each of these crackers are designed to eat in one bite. And when you do overcome your fear, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Following Jesus in the midst of our skeptical culture takes a step of faith. Yet it’s only by wholeheartedly following Jesus that our spiritual hunger will be satisfied. It’s going to get uncomfortable as you grow in your faith and discover that God wants to reshape your life.

Take a step of faith and choose a cracker from the options below. Share your reconciled notions on how you think it might taste, Go all in and eat it in one bite.

Recipes

For the best results. We highly recommend following the recipes as closly as possible for these unique S'mores. Each recipe makes 10 servings. Adjust according to the number of guests. It’s best to have a few options as some might find these too odd and will only choose one. Some might find the flavours not odd enough. All are delicious.

Be sure to give a full description of each cracker to your guests. Otherwise it will not be a step of faith to eat it.
