Eating Alpha, & Drunk Chickens. A glimpse at what's we have been working on.

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all having a good, safe, and healthy Fall so far. It's been a very busy time for me as I have been working on multiple creative projects. It's good to be busy, especially amidst all the challenges of 2020. I'm very thankful for all the opportunities God is giving me and want to be sure I do my best with each one. However, I'm finding it easy to get overwhelmed with too many creative projects so I'm working hard on streamlining my workload and having more balance in my life.

Here are a few of the projects I'm currently working on:

1. Eating Alpha: I have been working with a small team of collaborators to develop a cookbook for Alpha Canada. Alpha is a free online course that explores many of life's biggest questions in regards to the Christian faith. https://www.alpha.org/try-alpha/.

Our vision is to create Theo's Feast inspired edible metaphor that uniquely connects the Alpha participants to each message in their 15-week long video series. We are doing this as an official partnership with Alpha Canada. Our mutual vision for this project is to use our recipes to inspire a deeper sense of community through the shared experience of eating together online. Each dish can be made under an hour with simple, local, grocery store ingredients. Its been a fun yet challenging project and we are looking forward to launching it in January of 2021.

2. Drunk Chickens & The U2 Conference

"Heartland, U2's looking for American Soul" is the theme for the upcoming U2 Conference inspired by the Band U2. The online conference will consist of a variety of presentations exploring the common theme of U2's critique of the struggle and journey of America becoming The America it hopes to be. Particularly through the various political, racial, and social tensions within its colorful history.

U2's message, the conference, or my presentation is by no means, meant to be a critique of my America, Americans or my American friends, but an encouragement for America to continue to strive for equality, human rights, freedom and democracy that all of humanity desires. The goal of my dish will be to uniquely communicate the message of the struggle of America becoming all that it could and should be through making culinary connections from a selection of U2's songs that communicate the struggle of America.

The invitation to be a part of this conference is inspired by the U2 Feast that I designed a few years ago. This is another one of many fun yet challenging opportunities to gain some exposure for Theo's Feast and initiate meaningful spiritual conversations through our unique dishes and story telling.

The conference will be available online from Oct 18-24. I will be presenting my dish as a Virtual Feast for all those who are attending the conference.
